I’ve always been a drugstore foundation girl, I’ve tried everything from Revlon to Neutrogena to Covergirl to Loreal. I loved them all and never really understood the point of buying high end foundations. Luckily, my skin behaves itself 95% of the time and I’ve never really had problematic skin (*knock on wood*). Because of this, I think I’ve always strayed away from buying high end foundations. Four years ago, I tried the L’oreal True Match and it instantly became my holy grail foundation. The formula is great and lightweight, it comes in 20 different shades (the most color selection by far amongst drug store foundations), and it’s super blendable. I’ve bought bottle after bottle and it wasn’t until this year that I started thinking about getting a different foundation.
NARS has always been a favorite of mine when it comes to high end makeup. I love love love their blushes (shout out to the golden peachy pink perfection that is “Orgasm”) and their lippies are perfection too! Having heard so many good things about NARS Sheer Glow foundation, I thought it was about time I tried it out. I headed over to my local Sephora to get color matched and to get a sample of the foundation. The girl there originally matched me for “Punjab” which is considered Medium 1. I was really skeptical about this color match because I’m definitely on the tanner spectrum when it comes to mediums and I have yellow undertones not peachy ones. Even though I was hesitant, I took it home anyway and gave it a go.
It totally didn’t match. It was waaaay too light for my skin and the color was just off. I still loved how the foundation felt on my skin so I decided to go to the NARS counter in Nordstrom instead to get color matched. This time, they matched me for “Barcelona” – Medium 4. I got another sample and the first time I wore it out was for my birthday. I LOVED IT! It has definitely become a new holy grail foundation for me over the last month and I don’t know how I’ve existed for so long without it in my life 😉
What I love about it
- The formula is silky smooth, not too thick, and not too thin. Coverage is medium and definitely buildable to be a full coverage foundation
- Longevity – I’d say it lasts on me for a solid 5-6 hours. Of course, I blot throughout the day to refresh but overall the makeup holds up really well
- Great color range – about 20 shades. I usually have a summer color and winter color 🙂
- Sleek packaging – I need to get a bottle pump though to avoid that mess in the lid
You can buy NARS Sheer Glow at Sephora, NARS online, and at NARS counters in Nordstrom! It retails for $45 and is definitely worth every penny. On a side note, I’m SO ready for this 3-day weekend and I hope all of you have a great one!! XO
