*My nighttime skincare routine is saved on my IG story highlights 🙂
My skin has always been pretty good throughout my life – I would say my skin is normal to combination skin. I get a little oily in my t zone and nose area (usually by the end of the day). I rarely have breakouts, except for that time of month and if I do get them, they’re huge painful underground ones on my chin. Ever since I started using my oils and Tula a year ago, I only have those painful pimples a few times a year. I try to not pick at it after I pop them and then put a drying treatment on them. I know I know you’re probably shaking your head but I just cannot not pop my pimples when they do come up.
I became obsessed with skincare about two and a half years ago. I wanted my skin to be in the best shape for the wedding so I got my first facial ever and was obsessed. My skin felt so clear and I loved the results. I also tried microdermabrasion and did not like it so much lol. I think my skin bruises easily and I looked like I had gotten punched in the face… multiple times. Everyone else I know who has gotten microdermabrasion LOVES it so maybe someday I’ll try it again 🙂
I started getting monthly facials a few months leading up to the wedding and they did wonders for my skin. I know facials are not in everyone’s budget but if you can afford to add them to your routine – I think they make a world of difference. When we lived in San Francisco, I went to Tonia at Your Happy Place. She runs her studio right out of her home and is really such a sweet soul. She helped me understand my skin better and my problem areas. She told me to throw away my beloved Aveeno facewash because it was drying out my skin and switched me over to one of her pore clearing cleansers. She is seriously the best!
It’s no secret that I also love makeup and beauty so having good skin is the foundation to having your makeup apply evenly and flawlessly. I love how smooth my foundation and makeup looks now that I’ve upped my skincare routine.
Daniel got me the Clarisonic as a Christmas gift last year and it was one of the best gifts ever! I used to use it every night but now only use feel like I need to use it once a week. It is 100% worth the price and really helps deep clean your face.
NIGHTTIME ROUTINE
I filmed an IG story and left it as a highlight on my profile so you can head there to see me go through my nighttime routine while looking at these products 🙂
- Remove eye makeup with coconut oil – I got a big jar of this organic virgin coconut oil from Whole Foods and I’ve had it for two years! It lasts forever, is so nourishing on my eyes, and breaks down eye makeup so easily.
- Remove face makeup with makeup wipes – I’ve tried so many brands of makeup wipes and my favorites are these.
- Use toner all over my face – You’d be surprised how much extra gunk toner will take off your face after a makeup wipe. I use a cotton pad with Bioderma all over my face.
- Wash my face with my pore clearing cleanser – Daniel found the cleanser I get from my esthetician online!! I know it says it’s for acne prone skin but I have normal combination skin and it works well for it too! This is the one we use and it’s freaking amazing. I swear it’s changed my skin so much!! Lather it onto your skin first without water and let it break down all the makeup and oils in your skin then go in with water and continue to wash your face. It leaves you skin feeling SO clean but not dry at all.
- Use the Tula Pro-Glycolic 10% pH Resurfacing Gel all over the face
- Use the Tula Power Liquid all over the face
- Use the Tula Aqua Infusion Gel Cream all over the face – It actually is completely weightless but provides so much moisture. I do this and my regular moisturizer to really help my skin wake up feeling soft and supple.
*For my Tula products, you can use code SWEETANDPETITE for 20% off sitewide. I highly suggest getting the clear complexion kit if you want to try them out and don’t want to commit to full sizes. This kit has three of my favorite Tula products in it.
- Go in with all my oils! – I break down which oils I use below.
- Moisturize! – I’ve been loving the Laneige Water Bank cream this winter since it’s so thick! It’s kept my skin so soft during these drier months. For the rest of the year, I love this repair cream from First Aid Beauty. This stuff has over 5000 reviews on Sephora and 4.5 stars so you know it’s the real deal. It makes my face and skin SO moisturized without being greasy at all. I also put moisturizer on in the morning after my oils before I put on my makeup.
- Apply an under eye balm – Undereye creams/balms are KEY to keeping your undereye bags under control. I’ve been using the glow and get it brightening balm and LOVE it! It really brightens my undereye. It’s sold out right now but I’ll keep checking for a restock for you girls!
Other things I like to do during the week:
- Steam – I recently got this mini facial steamer and I am OBSESSED! It feels amazing, opens your pores, and steaming has great benefits for your skin. I try to only steam once a week to not dry out my face but I wish I could every day because it really feels like an at home spa treat.
- Apply a night mask – This is an added extra step and I try to do a mask at least once a week. I’ve shared my favorite night masks below.
OILS
I’ve been using my oils for about a year now and they have helped restore balance to my skin. I rarely get any breakouts now – not even the occasional underground one I used to get every few months during my period. I follow the recommended regimen for general signs of age but they have a good guide for more focused skin problems if you want to target a specific skin issue 🙂

Fresh Rose Face Mask – My absolute ALL time fav
Freeman Cucumber Peel Off Mask
PIMPLE TREATMENTS
UPDATE – I rarely get the underground pimples anymore after using Tula and the oils BUT I wanted to leave this here in case you are having trouble with them because these tips used to really help for me.
I usually don’t have any breakouts but once every four or five months, I get a painful underground hormonal pimple on my chin and it’s the WORST. These are the ones that have no head, swell up and literally pulse with pain.. I usually go about my regular skincare routine and I will ice the pimple and use a pimple treatment that has salicylic acid. I also just recently used this cystic acne treatment for this last round of pimples that I had from my recent TOM breakout. It worked really really well and I put it on a few times a day to help dry out my pimples and reduce the redness. It’s full of bentonite clay, witch hazel, essential oils, etc and each of these natural ingredients is geared towards helping with breakouts and healing your skin.
SKINCARE RULES I LIVE BY
– ALWAYS wash your face at night and never sleep with makeup on.
– Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize
– Drink lots of water
– Try to go makeup free once a week to let your skin breathe
I hope you all enjoyed this skincare post and my night time routine! Xoxo
