So for once, I am not doing any restocks because I got so many restocks during the last sale in April! These are all new fun purchases! 🙂 Some of these I’ve been eyeing for a while and others I found while browsing and reading reviews.
I also tried a ton of setting powders, concealers, blush, bronzer, etc in the last sale so I didn’t feel the need to try any new ones this time but I’ll share my top picks below for each category!
Eyes – I have always heard great things about Natasha Denona but her large palettes are a little pricey for me to justify because I have so many eye palettes. I love this mini eye palette because of the nude colors and how portable it is! Can’t wait to try. The caviar eyeshadow stick I’ve also heard great things about so I grabbed the color “Copper.”
Face/Complexion – I mean you already KNOW my love for NARS Sheer Glow. It was my very first high end foundation and to this day still remains a top drawer foundation. I always have a bottle on hand! When NARS released their soft matter I just knew I had to try it so I’ve been waiting for this sale to grab it 🙂 I picked up the shade “Barcelona” which is the same I wear in my Sheer Glow. I’ve also heard great things about the Charlotte Tilbury setting spray – some of the reviews even say it’s better than Urban Decay All Nighter which is my all time favorite so I can’t wait to try and see how it stands up to that.
Lips – The gloss… I know I know it’s pricey because it’s Tom Ford. I’ve wanted this gloss in “Crystalline” for so long and finally just decided to splurge. I tried to purchase it last sale and it sold out by the time I decided to buy it 🙁 I’ve seen the Charlotte Tilbury “Nude Kate” lipstick many times and swatched it in stores but just never hit purchase because I have so many nudes. I decided to just add it to cart too. I’ve tried Kim K.W. and that washed me out way too much! So I’m hoping this one will work for my skin tone. The liner was a last minute add. I’ve tried Patrick Ta lip products before and I liked it so I though this sultry brown liner would be a good one to add to my collection for fall.
Hair: Clearly I decided to add some more hair care products to my lineup! I read lots of reviews for all of these and I’m getting the Gisou honey hair oil, the Living Proof Leave-In Treatment and the Bumble and Bumble heat protectant. I have fairly thick hair and most of the reviews said these products worked great for thick hair.
I ended up putting in another mini order… 🙂 I’d been eyeing the Dior glow palette for a while and the reviews on the honey halo moisturizer are amazing! I love the honey potion mask so I’m excited to try their new moisturizer. The bronzer and pot concealer are your recommendations! Thank you for sending me your recommendations. I went through them all and surprisingly had a lot of your most loved products already. These two caught my eye from the recs 🙂
FOUNDATION
My top pick overall will forever be NARS Sheer Glow and my most luxurious pick is the Armani Luminous Silk. I use the Flawless Filter after primer and before foundation when I want an extra flawless finish.
One foundation that has surprised me and that has become my daily foundation during work from home/shelter in place is the Rare Beauty foundation from Selena Gomez! I didn’t love it at first but after the second or third time I started really enjoying. It’s very watery and has the consistency of a skin tint but the coverage is surprisingly very medium/full.
Shade names: Charlotte Tilbury: 3 Light Medium // NARS: Barcelona // Armani: 5.75 // Rare Beauty: 240W // IT Cosmetics: Medium Tan // Laura Mercier: 3W1 // Dior: 3W
For reference, I am generally medium with warm undertones when selecting foundations. I would describe my skin as normal with some oil in my t-zone by the end of the day.
PRIMER
I’m still not really wearing primer as much these days but since the last sale I did try the Tatcha Liquid primer which was great and felt a little less full coverage than the original balm version. I also tried the Laneige Glowy Makeup Serum gave a great glowy base for spring/summer makeup. The Tatcha is the best for full coverage and flawless makeup days while the others are interchangeable for every day wear.
CONCEALER
I went on a concealer testing phase over the last few months and I have some new ones to add to my concealer recommendations! For everyday makeup, I’ve been using the Clinique all better in WN Oat for blemishes and hyperpigmentation. It feels really lightweight but has full coverage. For undereye, I’m still loving the Tarte Shape Tape the most but if you are looking for a more hydrating option the Hourglass is great. I also tried the Too Faced Born this Way and it was good but not one I’d feel a need to absolutely repurchase. My holy grail undereye concealer is Tarte but it’s not sold on Sephora. You can get still get 15% off though with code KHANH on Tarte’s website. 😉
Shade names: Tarte: Light Medium Neutral 29N // Hourglass: Fawn for undereye and Beech for all over // Clinique: WN Stone for undereye and WN Oat for all over // Too Faced: Natural Beige
For reference, I usually get light or light medium with neutral undertones when selecting concealers for undereye and medium with warm undertones for all over.
SETTING POWDER, FINISHING POWDER, AND SETTING SPRAY
I also went on a setting powder testing frenzy last time and got the Ilia and Hourglass powders. I loved them all! Those are more pricey than the Laura Mercier though. I’d recommend all of them. Those are translucent and the Charlotte Tilbury pressed powder has color to it. The Urban Decay All Nighter spray is still my favorite setting spray but I did grab a new brand to try in my order. If you must grab one item from this sale that you didn’t know you needed, I still highly recommend this lighting palette. These are finishing powders so they are meant to be put on after your setting powder. It makes my skin look so radiant and glowy!
BRONZER
No real changes here. The Hourglass is my favorite of all time but the Tarte has been great for quick makeup days and I kind of love the slight coconut tropical scent it has. The other two are matte and great for contouring. Maybe someday I will splurge and get the Tom Ford bronzer 🙂 I did recently rediscover the Soleil Tan De Chanel again in my makeup collection and have been loving it again but it’s not available at Sephora. I also heard they reformulated sadly 🙁
Shade names: Hourglass: Radiant Bronze Light// Fenty: I$land Ting // Tarte: Park Ave Princess // Benefit: Hoola
BLUSH
I got the Jouer blush duo in the last sale and it has become such a favorite of mine! The pigmentation is great and it lays beautifully on the skin. I’m going to share all of picks below for blush but I’d say for fall my most worn shades are CoverFX Warm Honey (not sold at Sephora but linked here), Becca Wild Honey, and Hourglass Mood Exposure. The Jouer is great but the color is more for spring/summer like some of the others listed below.
Shade Names: CoverFX: Warm Honey (Not part of the sale) // Becca: Wild Honey // Charlotte Tilbury: Ecstasy and Pillowtalk // Tarte: Risque and Captivating // Hourglass: Mood Exposure // NARS: Orgasm
HIGHLIGHTER
No real changes here 🙂 Love all of these but still loving the Jouer the most. It gives the most amazing glow and is less expensive compared to the others.
Shade names: Jouer – Skinny Dip // Fenty: Mean Money/Hu$tla Baby and Afternoon Snack/Mo’ Hunny // Becca: Opal and Champagne Pop // Charlotte Tilbury: Spotlight
BROWS AND EYES
Pretty much the same recommendations here! The only thing I’ve switched up is using the Fenty Brow Wax instead of a clear brow gel.
Shade names: Anastasia: Chocolate // Becca: Light to Medium // Charlotte Tilbury: Pillow Talk and Golden Goddess
LIPSTICK
Note: I can’t choose the color that shows up in the image below sometimes so the colors are all off.
These are primarily nudes and peachy nudes 🙂 My most recent love is the Fenty liquid lip in Unbutton! It’s so long wearing and the color is great peachy nude. Otherwise, my most worn is still the NARS paired with the Sephora #2 liner.
Shade names: Fenty: Unbutton // Givenchy: Beige Caraman // NARS: Belle De Jour // Too Faced: Skinny Dippin’ and Birthday Suit / / Tarte: Colada // Charlotte Tilbury: Pillowtalk // Patrick Ta: She’s Unapologetic
LIPLINER
Shade names: Sephora: 2 Nothin but Nude // Charlotte Tilbury: Iconic Nude and Pillowtalk // Marc Jacobs: Nude(ist)
LIPGLOSS
I’m a gloss girl forever 😉 These are my favs
Shade names: Fenty: Fenty Glow and Glass Slipper // Sephora: 2 XXL Nude // Marc Jacobs: Sugar, Sugar and French Tickler// Buxom: Bellini (for some reason this color is not available at Sephora but is available at Ulta) and White Russian
MAKEUP BRUSHES
The majority of my brushes are Sigma but I do have two that I recommend from Sephora! One is the dual ended Hourglass brush which I wanted for SO long and finally got during the last sale. I use the larger side for bronzer every day and the smaller side for my undereye powder. The other is the Sephora foundation brush – it has finely packed bristles that really buff in your foundation.
SKINCARE
My two top recommendations are the Lancome Serum and the Sunday Riley Treatment. The Lancome helps with brightening and hyperpigmentation while the Sunday Riley has helped with acne scars and skin texture. They are pricey but they are worth it so I definitely recommend grabbing them at the sale price. My full skincare routine is saved on the “Skincare” highlight on my instagram.
HAIR
Love Living Proof for hair products and the Olaplex is great for color treated hair. I have a few tutorials on my highlights for hair tutorials.
