Happy Fall ♥ It is seriously the BEST time of the year with leaves changing colors, weather getting cooler, and chunky knits galore. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know fall is just my favorite time of the year and judging by all the comments it looks like all of you love it too! I’ve seen a few other lifestyle bloggers do this and thought it’d be fun to share my favorite fall traditions and what’s on our to-do list this fall.
So many of these are annual traditions but some are new ones that I’ve added in 🙂
PUMPKIN PATCH – We go every year and pick out pumpkins for our front door and then usually again before Halloween so that we can carve pumpkins. I usually do a basic design and Daniel does an elaborate one lol he has much more patience than I do.
APPLE PICKING – This one is new! I looked up some apple orchards around the bay area so I can’t wait for us to do a little adventure to one one of these weekends in October.
BURN FALL CANDLES – I really really love candles but I’m absolutely obsessed with fall candles! Leaves is my ALL TIME FAVORITE scent and I remember one year they didn’t have Leaves and it was the worst year ever so I stock up on multiple candles in that scent now. I love the bath and body works 3 wick candles the most and they often go on sale which is a great time to stock up on them. I love all of their scents and the candles burn very even and clean. Some other favorites are: Spiced Apple Toddy, Sweater Weather, Cranberry Woods, Frosted Cranberry, Tis the Season, Flannel, Harvest Gathering. Pretty much any spicy scent is my jam. I really don’t like sweet scents surprisingly so all the pumpkin or vanilla ones are out for me.
WATCH HALLOWEEN MOVIES – I’ve always loved Halloween movies but this year I’m really having us make an effort to watch all of our favorites! We kicked off October moviefest last night with Casper 🙂 If you missed my list of favorite Halloween movies on stories, I’ve listed them in the photo below!
DECORATE FRONT DOOR – Looooove doing this now! I got a pretty fall wreath from HomeGoods and some mums from Costco (they’re only $15 and come potted!)
GO DO A CORN MAZE – We’ve never done this before but I really want to go try this year 🙂
CARVE PUMPKINS – We love carving pumpkins every year and Daniel usually goes all out with his designs. I’m unfortunately very basic and try to do the ones with minimal difficulty so I don’t give up mid way through 😉
MAKE HOMEMADE CIDER – I’ve never done this either but I think Daniel has so I want to do it one night!
BAKE FALL GOODIES – I love baking but we haven’t had an oven in years so having an oven this year and my Kitchen Aid finally out on the counter means I can bake some delish fall goodies 🙂
The last thing that I didn’t put on the list but really endcaps the season and begins the Christmas season for us is our annual family trip to Apple Hill. Apple Hill is this gorgeous area of apple farms and tree farms in Placer County and every year for as long as I can remember we have gone the day after Thanksgiving to pick out our Christmas tree. I mean it when I say it is my favorite most treasured day of the year – full belly of turkey from Thanksgiving, warm heart from being around my family, and the kick off to the most wonderful holiday season. This is also our first holiday season with a puppy, decorating our own little tree, and in our new apartment so there’s just so much to celebrate and be thankful for.
I can’t wait to hear more of your fall traditions! Hope you are all having a great start to this festive season!
Us at the pumpkin patch last year 🙂 We have to find some new ones near us to go to we used to Clancy’s for years in San Francisco so I’ve found a few really cute ones in the tri-valley area I want us to check out.
I love pretty fall foliage so much <3
